How a dream board can change your life

Many, many years ago, about the time that The Secret became a blockbuster hit, my friend Bobby and I decided to do a little experiement.

We both bought corkboards from Walmart and because Bobby didn’t have a printer, and I was a book cover designer, I would design and print our dreams and ship Bobby’s to him via snail mail.

Both of us, cut out our images and pasted them up on the boards like a collage in ways that pleased us.

My first one was a small 2x2 foot board that hung above my writing desk. It depicted a bookcover with my name on it, some money (of course), a family of ninjas, a brand new camaro, a house with a princess tower, and a fresh set of teeth for Bobby just as an experiement.

A few months later my first published novel arrived in my mailbox. Not long after that, a long unrequited love of mine reached out and offered to help me with my grammar. And that led to her offering for me to move into her old home and fix it up. I threw caution to the wind and accepted.

Months later, while my dream board hung in the water-stained upstairs room of the project house where I was living and working, I was painting a stairwell and she pulls up out front in a brand new yellow camaro!
